Daniel refused to worship other gods. He knew that there was only one true living God and his name is Jehovah.
When the King made a law telling everyone to bow to this other god Daniel refused and was thrown to the lions to be eaten.
When the King came to see what had happened to Daniel he was happy to see that the lions had not hurt Daniel. The King liked Daniel very much - mostly because he had God's wisdom and helped the King with his decisions.
