Exod 2:3 (NASU) But when she could hide him no longer, she got him a wicker basket and covered it over with tar and pitch. Then she put the child into it and set [it] among the reeds by the bank of the Nile.

The Pharaoh of Egypt gave orders to kill all babies because he was afraid that the people of God might become more and stronger than Egypt.

Moses later grew up to leave Egypt and come back as the one God sent to take the Isreal people from slavery to the promise land.
