Knowing God : Exploring His actions

God's action is the basis of our scriptural revelation. Historical account
of His movements and motivations and actions reveals Him to us in ways like
nothing else can. All is guesswork until we can verify His heart with
actions toward us. He proves Himself with His actions.

Ps:145:4: One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall
declare thy mighty acts.
Ps:145:12: To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the
glorious majesty of his kingdom.

God uses His actions to clarify Himself and His heart for us. When you need
to understand someone, don't you watch their life? Don't you examine their
fruit? Don't you watch with whom they spend their time? The same is true
of knowing God. Watch His actions. Interpret what He does. Why does He do
it? When does He do it?

He is patient.
1Pt:3:20: Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of
God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few,
that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Knowing that He was patient for others gives me hope. In my life I know He
will wait by my side and walk me through tragedy or mistakes each time. He
never leaves me or forsakes me.

He is good.
Psalm 145:1: I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name
for ever and ever. 2: Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy
name for ever and ever. 3: Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and
his greatness is unsearchable. 4: One generation shall praise thy works to
another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 5: I will speak of the glorious
honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. 6: And men shall speak of
the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. 7: They
shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of
thy righteousness. 8: The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to
anger, and of great mercy. 9: The LORD is good to all: and his tender
mercies are over all his works. 10: All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD;
and thy saints shall bless thee.
Wow! I am part of the all over which He is good. His graciousness is
pointed toward me. His slowness to anger includes my problems and my
confusion and the times it takes me to learn what He is so willing to teach.

He provides.
Genesis 22:13: And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind
him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the
ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. 14:
And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to
this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. (He shall pro-vide,
ji-reh)
Whatever the journey He takes me on, there is provision along the path.
When I am weak and lagging in faith, I know if I continue in the path, He
will be around the next corner with exactly what I need.

He protects.
Psalm 23:1: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2: He maketh me to
lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3: He
restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his
name's sake. 4: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they
comfort me. 5: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine
enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6: Surely
goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell
in the house of the LORD for ever.
When my enemies rise up against me, He is there. He prepares blessing for
me in the presence of my enemies.

He redeems.
Job:19:25: For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at
the latter day upon the earth:
Ps:78:35: And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God
their redeemer.
This rock, Jehovah Tsur, is there to bring me out of the horrible pits of
life. His redemption counts not just for a one time entrance into eternal
life, but a continual capture out the snares of life.

Taking Inventory on Exploring God in His Actions
When did God "buy you out" of a bad circumstance?

How often do you thank Him for His protection that goes on everyday even
when you are not aware?

Has God put good in your life that you have called bad?

Taking Action on Exploring God in His Actions
Take time to remember the work of His hands today. Think about one of the
scripture principles above. Write down how God has been faithful to you in
that principle. Write Him a thank you post card. Put it in your bible and
read it to Him each day for a week.

Prayer on Exploring God in His Actions
Father, You are magnificent. How can I thank you enough for what You do
every day when I am not even aware. I am not even consciously trying to be
aware of Your goodness, yet You continue to bless, protect, provide, do
good, be patient, and redeem me. Thank You, Father. Thank You that You do
not depend on me to be whoYou are.
