Crumbs From the Table

TO THEM OF LIKE PRECIOUS FAITH

Psalms 55:6 "And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest."

As we look at this passage of scripture this morning, the question is
for us is...Have we ever felt this way? I believe many of us have
felt this way at some time or another. Some of us, most likely feel
this way this morning!

As we look into this psalm, one would wonder if this is the same
David who wrote the 23rd Psalm when he said, "The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want." For it would seem that surely this is not one and the same. From one who speaks so boldly of what God can, will and is doing, to one who is ready to take flight from the situations and problems of this world.

Look at the words of this psalm in verses 2 thru 5 which says, "I
mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me."

Does this sound like one of God's elect, one who is the sheep of His
pasture, one who speaks of walking thru the valley of the shadow of
death and fearing no evil?

But wait a minute...

Before we be to quick to point the finger of judgment, this picture is
or can be a picture of any of us. For we shall all come upon times of
doubt, distress, and despair when it seems like we are fighting a
losing battle. Those times when we feel like we can witness
personally to Murphy's Law..."Everything that can go wrong will go
wrong!" Those times when Satan has almost...but not quite convinced us that we are all alone in this Christian walk. These are the times that we want to get away from it all..."Wings of a Dove", that we might find peace in the midst of the storms of our lives.

But where can you hide from the enemies of this world? Where can you run to find peace in this life? The answer to these and all other
questions can only be found in God. In the midst of the turmoil and
turbulence of this world we must never lose sight of God for He is our refuge in time of storm. And if you read verse 1 of this psalm you
will recognize this is a prayer to God, "Give ear (listen) to my
prayer, O God; and hide not Thyself from my supplication."

Even in despair the psalmist has not lost sight of the power of the
Almighty God. I don't know about you, but when I'm down in the mouth I don't need to know what my horoscope says nor what Mother So-and-So has to say on the matter, I don't even need to call the Psychic Hotline....I need a Word from the LORD!

Psalms 55:16-19 says, "As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD
shall save me. Evening, and morning and at noon, will I pray and cry
aloud: and He shall hear my voice. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me..."

We must always keep in prayer to God that we might be stand steadfast against the army of Satan and the evilness of this world. Notice that his prayer will be offered up in the evening, the morning and at noon. Prayer is not a one time thing...Pray without ceasing! But to do so means to have a faith in God that does not cease!

And our finally word this morning when we too have the desire to have "wings like a dove" that we might fly away is found is verse 22 ...
"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall
never suffer the righteous to be moved."

The word burden means to carry, to bear a load. Sin is a very heavy
burden upon us which can become more than we can bear, but this
passage tells us to "cast thy burden upon the LORD and He shall
sustain thee." The word cast means to throw, to release with force.
God has released us from the burden of sin through the work of His Son and our Saviour, Jesus Christ, but we shall never be relieved of the load of sin until we place our faith and trust in Him. Many of us
have sleepless nights and restless days wrestling with sins that
burden us down that have already been paid for and forgiven, but we have not the faith to turn it over to Jesus!

Have a Blessed Day...Be PRAYERFUL and THANKFUL for all things!!!
