Discipleship Lesson #2

Some references in the Bible of the Prophecies about Jesus

Gene 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel."

The scriptures talk about the seed of the devil and the seed of women. The next four references are about the seed of the Devil. Read the scriptures before and after each of the following:

Matt 13:38 (NASU) and the field is the world; and [as for] the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil [one];

John 8:44 (NASU) "You are of [your] father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own [nature], for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Acts 13:10 (NASU) and said, "You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord?

1Joh 3:8 (NASU) the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

The next four references are about the seed of the women. Read the scriptures before and after each of the following:

Isai 7:14 (NASU) "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Psal 132:11 (NASU) The Lord has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: "Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.

Matt 1:23 (NASU) "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which translated means, "God with us."

The below verse is very interesting because it is Simeon looking at the baby Jesus and the father in heaven through the Holy Spirit reveling to him that this is the Messiah.

Luke 2:25 (NASU) And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

Simeon looks at Jesus and says the following:

Luke 2:30 (NASU) For my eyes have seen Your salvation, 31 Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 A Light of revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel."

Peter also was filled with Holy Spirit and sensed the living God in his presence.

Matt 16:15 (NASU) He ^said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal [this] to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

This how we know Jesus is real. We experience his presence through the Holy Spirit who revels Him to us. When we gather together and talk about the Lord or just sing praises. We feel a presence about us. This presence is Jesus. Jesus said the following:

Matt 18:20 (KJS) For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Gene 49:10 "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him [shall be] the obedience of the peoples.

"The scepter or the rule over the people"

Roma 15:12 (KJS) And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

Lets look at Jesse according to some of Smith’s Dictionary:

Smith's Dict. [Jesse] 2391 Jes'se (wealthy), the father of David, was the son of Obed, who again was the fruit of the union of Boaz and the Moabitess Ruth. His great-grandmother was Rahab the Canaanite, of Jericho. Matt 1:5 Matt 1:5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

This is where God introduces Gentile blood into the Royal blood line of Jesus.

Jesse's genealogy is twice given in full in the Old Testament, Ruth 4:18-22 and 1Chr 2:5-12 Ruth 4:18 Now these [are] the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron, 19 And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab, 20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon, Salmon: or, Salmah} 21 And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, 22 And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

1Chr 2:5 The sons of Pharez; Hezron, and Hamul. 6 And the sons of Zerah; Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara: five of them in all. Zimri: or, Zabdi} Dara: or, Darda} 7 And the sons of Carmi; Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the thing accursed. Achar: or, Achan} 8 And the sons of Ethan; Azariah. 9 The sons also of Hezron, that were born unto him; Jerahmeel, and Ram, and Chelubai. Ram: Gr. Aram} 10 And Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the children of Judah; 11 And Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz, Salma: also called, Salmon} 12 And Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse, He is commonly designated as "Jesse the Bethlehemite,"

1Sam 16:1 And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

1Sam 16:18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, [that is] cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD [is] with him. matters: or, speech}

1Sam 17:58 And Saul said to him, Whose son [art] thou, [thou] young man? And David answered, I [am] the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite. but his full title is "the Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah."

You see from this genealogy that Jesus is from the tribe of Juda!

Hebr 7:14 (KJS) For [it is] evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

Gene 49:10 "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him [shall be] the obedience of the peoples.

All living souls will be judged by Jesus because he became one of us. Not as somebody that could not feel our emotions and hurts but someone like you and I. This gives Him the right to judges us. God in all his mercy will not do this but has left it with the Son.

Hebr 4:15 (KJS) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.

2Cor 5:10 (KJS) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

Reve 11:15 (KJS) And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

John 12:32 (KJS) And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me. With this right Jesus will draw all his believers unto him-self and we will be with Him forever.

John 6:44 (KJS) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
