Discipleship Lesson #4

The scriptures tell us that God not only gave us his Son but he gave Jesus as a gift to us. The gifts that Jesus gave us will never die or fad away, they are here on this earth forever.

Isai 42:6 (KJS) I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

John 3:16 (KJS) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 4:10 (KJS) Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

John 6:32 (KJS) Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

God knew that the world had not really seen him in his true character, so the Son must be as him. God sent Jesus with all the gifts and spender of Him-self so the world would know that Jesus was sent of Him.

Psal 21:5 His glory is great through Your salvation, Splendor and majesty You place upon him.
6 For You make him most blessed forever; You make him joyful with gladness in Your presence.
7 For the king trusts in the Lord, And through the lovingkindness of the Most High he will not be
shaken.

Psal 45:2 You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever.

Psal 45:7 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of joy above Your fellows.

John the Baptist, in the most trying time of his life, wanted to know for sure that what John him-self had proclaimed to the world was true.

Luke 7:19 (KJS) And John calling [unto him] two of his disciples sent [them] to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 And in that same hour he cured many of [their] infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto
many [that were] blind he gave sight.

22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and
heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
23
And blessed is [he], whosoever shall not be offended in me.

John choose not to be offended in Jesus and believed on him even without seeing what had taken place that day. He believed the report of his trusted disciples and went to his death having faith that Jesus was truly the Son of God who was sent to redeem the world of it’s sin.

John 20:29 (KJS) Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.

We may also ask from time to time the same question that John the Baptist ask. But in his compassion for us he will show by the works of his father through signs and wonders. The signs and wonders are manifest through the Holy Spirit and given to men and women to share with others. The gifts are given from God to Jesus to the Holy Spirit to Man.

What we do with these gifts should be the same as Jesus did with them and that is to give them to others. For freely God gave these to us and we must freely give to others.

This is the work we are called to do

Matt 10:8 (KJS) Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

It was God's choice to give us Jesus for our sins so Jesus could present usto God as rightneous and clean, and then give to us the gifts he gave to Jesus.

Roma 8:32 (KJS) He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

We must also tell others as John’s disciples told him. We have seen and heard about Jesus, He is alive and stills performs miracles today.

Read the following scriptures and study them very close.

1Joh 1:1 (KJS) That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and hearddeclare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
