Moving
West we see Jericho:(In
New Testament times Jericho stood some distance to the Southeast of the
ancient
one, and near the opening of the valley of Achor. It was a rich and
flourishing
town, having a considerable trade, and celebrated for the palmtrees
which adorned the plain around. It was visited by our Lord on his last
journey
to Jerusalem. Here he gave sight to two blind men

repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes
I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and

And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand
Jericho, and the king thereof, [and] the mighty men of valour.

And ye shall compass the city, all [ye] men of war, [and] go round
about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
4
And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams'
horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and
the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
5
And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long [blast] with the
ram's horn, [and] when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people
shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall
down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

2:19 (KJS) And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray
thee, the situation of this city [is] pleasant, as my lord seeth: but
the water [is] naught, and the ground barren.

And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they
brought [it] to him.

And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt
in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters;
there shall not be from thence any more death or barren
22
So the waters were healed unto this day, according
to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
