How can I forget of the days gone by
of a wonderful mother who was willing to try
In raising her family her life she did spend
the children all thought she was a very best friend
The neighbors about her said with a cheerful heart
in raising her family she had did her part
She told me of God and his Son he did send
to bring Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men
As time went on and older I grew
one day mother said you must go to school
How she helped me get ready with clothes clean and neat
and my lunch she did fill with good things to eat
I tried to be kind when I got out to play
for mother had always taught me that way
One day mother left us to live with Jesus on high
we all knew she was safe but yet, we did cry
This white rose I wear to show her great love
for her life to me was kind as a dove.
Her body returned to the dust of the earth
but the seeds still remain to bring forth a new birth
Sons and daughters and grandchildren too
if they follow her life hey will all be true.
She is still with me as I go through this life
whispering, praying as I live day and night
In living for Christ every day I will try
How can I forget of the days gone by.
