What the Bible has to Say About Hell

Job 26:6 (NASU) "Naked is Sheol before Him,
And Abaddon has no covering.

Psal 9:17 The wicked will return to Sheol,
[Even] all the nations who forget God.

Psal 16:10 For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol;
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.

Psal 86:12 (NASU) I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And will glorify Your name forever.
Psal 86:13 For Your lovingkindness toward me is great,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

Prov 7:4 (NASU) Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"
And call understanding [your] intimate friend;
5 That they may keep you from an adulteress,
From the foreigner who flatters with her words.

Prov 7:26 (NASU) For many are the victims she has cast down,
And numerous are all her slain.
27 Her house is the way to Sheol,
Descending to the chambers of death.

Prov 15:10 (NASU) Grievous punishment is for him who forsakes the way;
He who hates reproof will die.
11 Sheol and Abaddon [lie open] before the Lord,
How much more the hearts of men!

Prov 27:20 Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied,
Nor are the eyes of man ever satisfied.

Isai 38:18 "For Sheol cannot thank You,
Death cannot praise You; Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.

Matt 5:22 "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, `You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, `You fool,' shall be guilty [enough to go] into the fiery hell.

Matt 5:30 "If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.

Luke 16:22 (NASU) "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried.
23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and ^saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 "And he cried out and said, `Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.'
25 "But Abraham said, `Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.
26 `And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and [that] none may cross over from there to us.'
27 "And he said, `Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house--
28 for I have five brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
29 "But Abraham ^said, `They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.'
30 "But he said, `No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!'
31 "But he said to him, `If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Jame 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, the [very] world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of [our] life, and is set on fire by hell.

2Pet 2:4 (NASU) For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 and [if] He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing [them] to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly [lives] thereafter;
7 and [if] He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men
8 (for by what he saw and heard [that] righteous man, while living among them, felt [his] righteous soul tormented day after day by [their] lawless deeds),
9 [then] the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
